1- Choosing the design of an organization is a challenge, one of those challenges is to choose the levels of vertical and horizontal differentiation of the company which allows an organization to control its activities in order to achieve its goals. CCC make use of both vertical with five levels of authority and horizontal-with too many groupings of organizational tasks.And wide span of control of Andrew Fox shows that horizontal differentiation is widely applied. Differentiation in CCC results in division of labor which enables people in the organization become more specialized and productive ,which also leads organization to create value.
There is a great integration in CCC for seven or eight years because since then departments started to work togethet but not their cross-purposes in order to achieve budget income for CCC.
CCC is mostly centralized because the important decisions are taken by the top of the hierarchy but there are some decentralized parts , such as the foremen having full responsibility for running their own departments.
CCC is also a standardized company where every activity is done according to the budget constraint and so it is a formalized company with too many rules including twelve volumes of general instructions and lots of special manuals.
2- CCC has a mostly mechanistic structure but it does not carry some of the characteristics. For instance, there are moderate formalization, moderate centralization, moderate span, formal training but no written communication even memos, instead of these CCC use verbal communication and it is widely used through the company like face to face communications with frequent visits to the employees.
3- Broken promises, missed delivery dates and slightly off-standard items are the actual, real problems occuring at the CCC plants. These problems are occuring because there is only a little customer orientation in the plant, plant only take care of the budget, cost, standards and operating performance but they are not taking care of the customer needs, customers small suggestions or customer satisfaction sufficiently so they are talking about production efficiency but they are undertaking the efficiency of sales with those products.
4- First of all, customer-oriented production must be adopted because inspite of the fact that quality is controlled by several measurements inside the plant, actually quality is what customer says it is, so customers feelings, needs must be taken into the first place. And secondly, in this kind of horizontally differentiated company subunit orientation must be applied in order to integrate the subunits.
